‘Life of Pi’ has finally arrived in Sydney… You have seen the intriguing trailer and read the awesome reviews – so in my opinion, you have to – have to have to have to – see this movie…
The story is about Pi Patel, a young boy from Pondicherry, India whose family owns a zoo. The first part of the movie is about Pi’s journey to find God as he is growing up. When Pi is 16, his family decide to move to Canada and board a Japanese cargo ship along with the animals from the zoo. The ship sinks in a storm leaving Pi on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker as well as an orangutan, zebra and hyena…. The second part of the movie is about Pi’s fight for survival on the boat for 227 days.
You need to see this movie because the story is well told and the visuals and the soundtrack are beautiful. Director Ang Lee (who also directed Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger etc) did an amazing job of bringing this complicated story to the big screen!
‘Life of Pi’ is one of those movies that you don’t want to miss on the big screen or in 3D – see it now. It’s genius, magnificent and beautiful….and will have you thinking about it for days on end and you may want to see it again or read it again (like me!).
