Book Review: The Great Gatsby

I finished the American classic ‘ The Great Gatsby’ by F. Scott Fitzgerald last night – it didn’t take me very long as it’s only 169 pages. But it was amazing and I can’t wait to read it again! You can read the reviews yourself, you probably even know the story given the current media coverage and hype. But I had to read the book before I see the film– and the book really is as good as they say. It’s surprisingly easy to read – the prose flows like poetry with beautiful, thought-provoking quotations laced in with drama.

I’m not as excited about the movie – the reviews haven’t been too great. But I loved ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ so I’m hoping I won’t be too disappointed with Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of this incredible novel.  And did you know that it was filmed in my pretty Sydney (I believe most parts at least)?!

I highly recommend that you read the book though – it’s a stunning piece of artwork.  If only I could write like that!
