Although I love food (as evidenced by my numerous foodie posts!), I do watch what I eat. I like to have a balanced diet without being too hard on myself. So if I indulge with a big meal one night, I make sure I exercise and eat lots of fruits and veggies and reduce my carb intake the next day. I really do believe that the amount of carbs I eat makes a difference to my waistline and how I feel. Now I didn’t say ‘no carbs’, because that’s silly and we need some carbohydrates in our day for energy. And how could you possibly give up some of the best things in life like warm bread, hot steamed rice, creamy pastas and cheesy pizzas?
So I was super excited to learn that Helga’s has a new range of Lower Carb bread! This loaf has 25% less carbs (than standard mixed grain breads) and comes in 3 varieties: Five Seeds, Soy & Toasted Sesame and, Sunflower & Golden Linseed. The good people at Helga’s PR were kind enough to give me a loaf of Sunfower & Golden Linseed bread. I was apprehensive at first – surely lower carb bread couldn’t be nearly as delicious as – well – ‘normal’ carb bread. But it felt lighter and softer to hold and tasted like a standard piece of bread, but just less dense and fluffier. I was also surprised that it was filling, with two pieces of lower carb bread keeping me full for at least a couple of hours.
So I’m definitely buying this bread from now on! Buy it now from your supermarket.
