Weeknight Dinner at Bridge St Garage, Sydney CBD

During the colder winter months, Mrs N and I caught up for dinner on a Tuesday night at Bridge St Garage. We sat by the window looking onto busy Bridge St and warmed ourselves with glasses of red wine while chatting about all things creative. (Mrs N is a lawyer by day and a film maker by night and weekends with her own business Perfect 10 Pictures. So we had a lot to talk about!)

Bridge St Garage was already lively and buzzing at 6pm with plenty of office workers stopping by for a drink or early dinner. The interior is spacious and, as the name suggests, has garage themed decor including number plates, large (presumably empty) cans of Castrol oil, and relatively large model racing cars suspended from the ceiling.

The food appeared to be North and South American inspired with the menu including a range of burgers, a few Argentinian street food dishes and a Southern style chicken and green bean dish.

We started with Empanadas ($14) which are South American pastries with a savoury filling that took me right back to the streets of Panama.

For a main, Mrs N tucked into some Pulled Pork Tacos ($20) which she claimed were extra tasty and spicy from the mixed Jalapeno and chimichurri sauces.

For my main, I was transported back to Cuba with the marinated Grilled Chicken ($25) with a side of fluffy white rice and saucey beans.

For dessert, we indulged and shared a New York Cheesecake ($11).

The service was fast, friendly and efficient and the food was definitely worth every penny. I highly recommend Bridge Street Garage for an after-work catch-up in the city with friends. Especially if you’re in the mood for burgers, fried chicken or South American treats!
