My Pretty Sydney’s Best of 2015

It’s been another busy year that flew by faster than any other year before.  Perhaps it’s because I finally hit my 30s and life is meant to become a blur from now on?  Or maybe it’s because I only took one long holiday which meant I didn’t have any other breaks in between.  Life and work were busy up until our 3 week holiday in May, and resumed as soon as we returned.  (Note to self: take more mini weekend breaks next year!)

But I did end the year with a life lesson – age is really just a number. At 30, I’m the fittest I’ve been in my entire life thanks to regular pole dancing lessons, gym classes and swimming lessons plus making a conscious effort to eat and sleep well. (I should also point out that I did zero sports growing up, so I’m comparing my fitness levels to a very low base!) But I honestly believe that age has nothing to do with it and I feel stronger and healthier and as a result, happier, than I’ve ever been before.

I’m also looking forward to my 30s. I was one of those 20-year-olds who couldn’t wait to turn 30. I can’t wait to apply the wisdom from all the mistakes I made in my 20s and to learn more as I grow older and (hopefully!) wiser.

Did you learn any life lessons this year? What are you looking forward to?

Anyway, here are my best blog posts for 2015…

1. I started the year by reflecting on 10 things I love about Sydney.

3. I learned some life lessons from my pole dancing classes.  And read this post again throughout the year as I struggled in Intermediate 3 and ended up taking a Technique class instead.  I’m steadily improving but not being as hard on myself.

4. My boyfriend and I travelled to Sri Lanka.  I loved catching up with family and exploring Colombo and Kandy, living like a tea planter in the Hill Country and going on a safari tour in Yala.

5. We also stopped by Singapore and devoured this beautiful high tea at the Raffles Hotel.

6. This blog turned 3 years old.  3 years!! I still can’t believe it.

7. Felt burnt out about 4 times this year.  Once from blogging and 3 times with work.  I had to quickly implement this advice and can happily say that I feel a lot better about everything.

8.  I perfected a lemon cupcake recipe for my lovely friend KT’s baby shower.  I met some adorable babies this year and hope all the first time mummies and daddies enjoyed their baby’s first Christmases!

9.  Attended my wonderful friend Nadia’s birthday party at the Tea Rooms in the Queen Victoria Building.  She’s leaving for a new chapter in her life and I wish her and her husband the very best – and will miss her lots too!

And on that note, even if you’re not embarking on an overseas adventure, why not start the year with a fresh mindset? No resolutions required, just an attitude that things will be better than last year and a reminder to leave the past in the past.  Start a new chapter for yourself called 2016.

I hope that you have a wonderful start to the New Year!
