I tried the brunch at Tonic Lane for the first time with my lovely friend Miss M in August last year. We had planned to meet at Wild Basket (another café close by) but it was closed, so Miss M suggested Tonic Lane. Of course, I didn’t take any photos that time because I was too busy venting about how busy I was and chatting about life in general. So I took my boyfriend back about a month later so that he could try it – and so that I could take photos.
The café is situated in a laneway off Grosvenor Street and has a hipster feel with antique teacups, milk in old bottles, water in old Gin bottles etc.
We sat outside at one of the many tables in the lane and enjoyed our tasty brunch – eggs benny for him and avocado on toast with a poached egg for me. I washed it all down with a Punjabi chai tea with almond mylk while he had his usual large cappuccino.
Tonic Lane is a great option for a quick breakfast or brunch in the lower North Shore with friends, your partner or by yourself. Afterwards you can duck into Woolworths for the grocery shopping, get your nails done or browse in one of the few clothing boutiques in the area.
